First semester checklist
- :听This is mandatory provincial health insurance for all BC students.
- Get your听student ID card听at the library. 础濒蝉辞,听Get your U-pass with Umo听(Bus pass) ().
- Sign up for听your free Office 365:听All current 天美传媒 students with a valid 天美传媒 ID number qualify for a free Office 365 subscription.
- 听in Canada ().
- Get a SIM card for your phone听and听set up internet service.
- Apply for your听听(you do not need to carry your passport with you in Canada).
- Apply for a听听(you need this to work).
- Apply for your听听promptly, if internships/practicums听are听a mandatory part of your program,听especially for Health programs (Practical Nursing, Early Learning & Care, Health Care Assistance etc).听
- Apply for a听Criminal Record Check (CRC)听immediately if your program requires this听(for example, Practical Nursing, Health Care Assistance, and Sport and Exercise Education programs).鈥
- Purchase your textbooks at the听. Shop early.听You will need to know your course codes and听section听numbers (e.g. ACCT 111-001) to find your textbooks.
- Log into听my天美传媒听and view 鈥淢y Program鈥 under 鈥淪tudent Planning鈥.听Check your program requirements in the听. You can also contact your听International Academic Advisor听for your Personal Learning Plan during your first semester.

How do I log into 天美传媒鈥檚 online courses?
All courses will use D2L (Desire to Learn) as the main platform to deliver the course. D2L enables your instructors to provide you with online content, activities, group collaboration tools, and assessment options. Access to your course pages will start on the first听day of class and will close 20 days after the end date of the course.听Some instructors may use other tools such as Collaborate, a video-conferencing tool,听that will allow you to connect in real-time with your听instructor听and other students in your class. You will need audio and video enabled on your computer to use Collaborate.听
