Activities and events

天美传媒 and Ey膿蕯 Sq葍鈥檒ewen host a number of events intended to enhance and celebrate Indigenous student success and encourage community development and wellness. Join us for聽 National Indigenous Peoples Day, Orange Shirt Day, the annual Salish Pit Cook聽and activities for Indigenous students like pizza day or learning the art of traditional basket weaving.聽

Our name

We have officially added the phrase聽Ey膿蕯 Sq葍鈥檒ewen听(辫谤辞苍辞耻苍肠别诲听Eye. sh-KWAW-leh-win) to our name and are now known as聽Ey膿蕯 Sq葍鈥檒ewen聽鈥 The Centre for Indigenous Education & Community Connections (or IECC).

Ey膿蕯 Sq葍鈥檒ewen聽is a Lekwungen word offered to us by Lekwungen Elder Elmer George. The word references "good heart, good mind, and good feelings鈥 鈥 the experiences we want you to have during your journey here.聽

We seek knowledge in these territories

天美传媒 serves the communities of southern Vancouver Island and the south Gulf Islands that are located in the Traditional Territories of the Lekwungen (Esquimalt and Songhees), Malahat, Pacheedaht, Scia'new, T鈥橲ou-ke and聽W瘫S脕NE膯聽(Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples.
